Eastleigh Fashion Week made it premier on March 18th 2023 at Sir Ali Muslim Club. Hafsa Mohammed, an entrepreneur and fashion designer said that main aim of the event according was to bring entrepreneurs and fashion designers together. “I am both and I earnestly believe that it will be an incredible networking platform for the ladies,” Hafsa noted. She got into the fashion industry six years ago and hasn’t looked back since.
The event was a great show of immense talent with amazing looks that included a mesmerising gold dress adorned in golden sequins matching the beautiful golden clutch in the models hands, a white lace bridal gown that puffs around the model like a cloud, and long flow dresses with gorgeous prints and sashes to pair flowed beautifully down the runway. A few personal favourites were a long pink satin dress paired together with a matching tulle robe and a pink long and fully beaded dress with a long gorgeous train – what can I say, I’m a sucker for pink.
During a little intermission the guest were entertained with a performance by a talented group of acrobats. Following this was a designer who showcased more western looks, from lovely long sundresses and chic fascinators to long wide leg pants and paired with a bucket hat.
It’s wonderful to see women like Hafsa Mohammed paving the way for muslim girls and women to enter the fashion scene in nairobi whilst also giving them the chance to view modest designs and looks that they can fully emulate.
