Charlene Ruto’s Best Looks of 2022

With a new government in office, a new year fresh on our heels and a first daughter making waves on twitter every other day, what better way to kick off 2023 than by reviewing some of our favourite looks on her from 2022. We shine a Fashion Spotlight on our President William Ruto’s daughter, the first daughter, Charlene Chelagat Ruto who has been impressively active since her family got to the helm of Kenya’s leadership. We at Couture Africa love to see strong, active, impactful women who are unafraid to take action, and do it in style and with confidence.

Here’re our picks of her best looks in 2022.

While meeting the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Charlene stunned in a pink pencil dress with a nude waterfall coat wrapped around her shoulders giving us a trendy and chic look that she wears confidently with a matching lippie.

A red marvelous suit. The look emits power and confidence and Charlene Ruto owns it in this look. The addition of Maasai jewellery – although most likely not planned – pairs wonderfully with the red suit making Charlene the perfect portrait of a strong Kenyan woman.

A smart casual look that was worn exquisitely as Charlene Ruto visited the Hay Hassani Service Centre. The orange makes her skin pop and gives the look a warm summery touch, perfectly balanced by the whimsical hat.

The kitenge coat is youthful and playful. Charlene demonstrates that a kitenge garment can really elevate a look while expressing her African culture with its vibrant colours and pattern

Trading her suits and heels for a casual dress, sneakers and a beautiful floral jacket, Charlene switched it up for her visit the Mohammed VI Football Complex. An elegant take on sporty-chic.

Charlene went for a bold look with this suit. This matched the occasion as she visited Kenani Primary School with the brightness in her suit matching the youthful energy of the visit, with the black blouse and shoes adding much needed depth and structure to her look.

The green pant suit with a white tank top she wore to attend a Kisii county assembly was definitely a stunning choice. The sleeves are slightly folded at the cuff exposing a brilliant dual coloured lining that adds hints of bronze and elevates the suit altogether.

This grey look is the perfect example of a minimalist official look and we adore the flounce detailing at the front of the blouse as it adds a delicate and feminine touch to her look.

Attending the 5th National Student Leaders Summit at The University of Nairobi, she pulled off smart formal perfectly in cigarette pants and a peplum jacket to boot.

Last but not least, we cannot, not love a Kitenge outfit! Work to the You Lead Summit 2022, the colours compliment her skin tone and the choice of a kitenge dress is great representation for an event focused on Africa.

We shall definitely be keeping an eye out for what she steps out in this year!
