Dr. Tiwa Savage was one amongst eight MAC Makers selected, together with Milan Based Celebrity Make-up Artiste Manuele Mameli, Iraqi Youtuber & Internet Sensation Noor Stars, American Comedian Benny Drama, Latina Musician Xime Ponch, South Korean Dancer, Choreographer and Trainer Lia Kim, Japanese Singer/Songwriter Kalen Anzai and Dutch TV Personality Sylvie Meis.
As more global beauty brands open shop in major African cities, the MAC x Tiwa savage partnership is a great testament to the potential the MAC brand sees on the African Continent. To mark the collaboration, Tiwa Savage held a lavish party in Lagos, Nigeria closely followed by yet another plush event in Nairobi Kenya, all combined with store visits to engage with Tiwa and MAC fans across both cities.
“I’m so happy that MAC has finally given us a voice. I also chose red because even though I’m a nude person, I wanted to choose a colour that pushes me out of my comfort zone, and I spent two years creating this shade. I’m so honoured and happy. Tonight is not really about celebrating me, it’s about celebrating all of us and our voices being heard as African women. This is about the whole continent and I’m really grateful for MAC choosing me to be the first MAC maker but certainly not the last,” said the Afrobeats Queen.
Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who begun her music career doing back-up vocals fir the likes of George Michael and Mary J Blige at the only 16. Her professional career grew when she signed with SONY / ATV Music Publishing and exploded when she moved back to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012, releasing her debut album ‘Once upon A Time’ in 2013.
MAC x Tiwa Savage features a Limited Collection Bright Red Matte Lipstick that will retail across Africa and other select markets individually or as a full lip-kit! Looking forward to seeing all African Queens out there buy-out this amazing long-wear lippie!
