Walking off the elevator on to the first floor, Café Villa Rosa Restaurant & Balcony Bar at Kempinski one is greeted with three bars serving a variety of drinks, from sparkling wine and margaritas to gin cocktails and creative mocktails. The beautiful sounds of a violin pull you deeper into the restaurant as you embrace the fancy yet laid back ambience. Welcome to Tour de Brunch by Villa Rosa Kempinski, rightfully labelled ‘the most lavish brunch in town’.
Chef Andreas Mensch and his talented culinary team have put together a one-of-a-kind brunch experience with food from multiple cultures from across the globe, making it one of the most diverse dining experiences in Nairobi. Costing KES 6,500 for food and KES 2,500 for drinks, you get to indulge your senses with an all you can eat and all you can drink buffet every first Sunday of the month [from 12.30pm – 4.30pm].
Your palette really will be taken on a global tour as you get to sample foods from various regions. Think Asian cuisine like mouthwatering sushi and deliciously seasoned curries to delectable Kenyan dishes including nyama choma and other local delicacies. You’ll get to open your mind and nourish your senses with a variety of flavour packed Middle Eastern cuisines and indulge in rich Italian dishes. If you love seafood, you shall be in good hands with the array of options available. My personal favourite was the pasta. We needed a tour just to know where all the different dishes were located as the restaurant was completely taken over by amazing spreads – even spilling over to the Balcony Bar. I suggest you bring your appetite to fully indulge and sample food from as many regions as possible.
Just as the afternoon comes to a close, you’ll be thrilled as the music shifts to the smooth sounds of a live saxophonist gently spilling into the restaurant, and right in time for my personal favourite, dessert. The dessert area or ‘the sweet room’ as it is so accurately named, is an absolute wonder to gaze upon. The whole room is filled to the brim with different options of sweet goodness, from fresh fruits to chocolate mousses. A marshmallow tree and little pure chocolate mushrooms sit in the middle of the room surrounded by log-like cakes, instantly giving the room a playful and child-like wonder.
If you’d rather spend quality time with your kids on Sunday, bring them right along. Right opposite the sweet room is a children’s playroom complete with minders to keep the little ones entertained as you kick back and indulge in the glorious buffet.
The Tour de Brunch really is a one-of-a-kind diverse experience that will leaves all your senses completely satisfied. So, mark your calendar for a brunch experience like no other at Villa Rosa Kempinski as you travel the world through your palette.
