Mastoor Unveils “Sweetening the Fast”: A Ramadan Collection Woven with Senegal’s Spirit of Teranga

Mastoor is an emerging modest lifestyle brand dedicated to crafting garments that honor faith, heritage, and timeless elegance. Each collection is a narrative – rooted in tradition, tailored for the future.

Emerging fashion brand Mastoor invites the world to embrace the soulful intersection of faith, community, and artistry with its latest collection, “Sweetening the Fast,” captured against the vibrant backdrop of Senegal. Drawing inspiration from the country’s profound traditions of generosity and unity during Ramadan, the collection transcends mere aesthetics to celebrate the sacred act of giving.

A Tapestry of Teranga: Where Fashion Meets Modesty

Senegal, a land of golden sands and boundless heart, is not just the setting but the muse for Mastoor’s latest work. Here, the concept of Teranga – a Wolof phrase for hospitality – resonates in every gesture, from shared meals at sunset to the quiet offering of dates to a neighbour. This collection immortalizes that spirit, stitching threads of modesty and connection into each garment.

The “Sweetening the Fast” collection reflects Ramadan’s essence: a time to purify the soul, deepen bonds with the Divine, and uplift one another. Designed for the modern believer who seeks meaning beyond materialism, Mastoor’s pieces are tactile reminders that the sweetest joys lie in what we give – not what we keep.

Mastoor’s palette channels Senegal’s natural beauty and the quiet richness of Ramadan nights:

  • Cassave (Off-White): Echoing the humility of simplicity, reminiscent of traditional Senegalese robes.
  • Dakar Noir (Black): A tribute to the depth of reflection under starlit skies.
  • Madd Skin (Deep Mauve): Inspired by the blush of the Madd fruit, a Senegalese delicacy
  • Baobab Peel (Coffee Hue): Earthy and grounding, mirroring the wisdom of ancient baobabs tree that stand as symbols of resilience.
A Visual Ode to Generosity

Photographed in Senegal’s sun-drenched landscapes by renowned photographer KAJ Jacques Manga, the campaign captures candid moments of unity – men sharing stories over tea, children exchanging laughter, elders breaking fasts with neighbors. These images are not staged; they are a testament to the lived beauty of Teranga.

“Ramadan is more than abstaining – it’s about opening hands and hearts. With this collection we wanted every fold and fabric to whisper, ‘The sweetness of this month is in what you give away.’ Senegal taught us that lesson in the most profound way,” says Abu Shaheem, Creative Director at Mastoor
